Don’t worry, we still love the old you. We’re just making some little tweaks to help you become an even more amazing version of you. I want you to be the best that you can possibly be and get after your goals – that’s what this post is all about!
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over again, expecting a different result.
If you’ve been trying to achieve a goal and just haven’t been able to make it happen, it’s time to change your approach.
It’s time to think hard about the type of person you need to be in order to make that goal happen.
Think about who you need to show up as every day to attract the type of success you want in your life.
What do I mean by that and how do you do it? Now, you have to be you. I want to emphasise that; I don’t want you getting the wrong impression that you have to go and pretend to be someone you’re not. You have to be authentic, you have to be real, you have to be you.
But too often we continue to exhibit the same behaviours over and over again and we don’t act in a way that helps us achieve our goals. Beginning to act as is if you already had the success you want will truly change your life.
The ‘Act As If’ approach

Think of someone you admire and would like to experience the same success as they have.
How are they spending their time? What are their typical behaviours and characteristics? Think about it and write down all of the attributes of those people.
Then do a little audit of your own behaviours. What may you need to tweak to start experiencing life more like the person you want to be – regardless of your current situation.
If you’d love to become uber wealthy and retire early, find someone who’s done it and pay attention to their behaviours. Then apply those to your life and begin to act as if you were already a millionaire with early retirement in your sights.
For example, most wealthy people have developed the discipline of delayed gratification – they don’t buy things they can’t afford with credit.
If you’re impatient, charging everything to your card because you want it now, change your behaviour. Save for things, like a wealthy person would.
Or maybe you want to be a crazy successful social media manager working with international brands.
Who is doing this already? How do they spend their time? Are they always learning, keeping up with social trends and investing in their digital marketing education?
Meanwhile, you spend spare time binging on Netflix. Change that behaviour.
Act as if you’re already an in-demand social media manager and invest as much time and money into honing your craft as you can.
Perhaps being happier is your goal? What behaviours do happy people have? If you want to be happy but every day you’re going around really sad, not smiling, grumpy and finding everything negative in the world, acting this way is not going to put you on the path to feeling happier.
You could do a bunch of activities you think will make you happy – like going disco dancing every Saturday night! – but if you’re grumpy while you’re disco dancing, it’s not going to make you a happier person, right?
What behaviours can you tweak to act like a happy person would? Can you smile more? Can you say upbeat things? Can you catch yourself if you’re saying negative things? That’s what you need to do.
You need to start living your life in a way as if you’d already achieved the success you’re chasing.
You don’t have to wait.
You don’t have to wait to reach the epitome of happiness to start smiling.
You don’t have to wait to be at your ideal weight before you start feeling confident. You don’t have to wait until you have all the money in the world to start acting like you’re somebody who has wealth.
Begin to act more like the type of person who has the success you’re after and you’ll attract that success yourself.
It doesn’t have to involve completely changing everything about yourself. It’s just a matter of saying hello to the new you, which is the slightly improved version! You’ve taken on board some new attributes and behaviours that will help you live your life as if you’re succeeding right now!
